Storage Notes
Basil
a few days
Basil is very sensitive to cold. Do not refrigerate fresh basil; it will turn black. Instead, strip the lower leaves off the stems and place stems in a glass of cool water on the kitchen counter like a flower.
Celery
2-4 weeks
You can wrap your celery tightly in foil and place it in the fridge. This will keep it crisp for weeks. If you don't want to use foil, try chopping the celery into smaller stalks and putting them in a bowl of water in the fridge.
Chamomile
2-3 days
All edible flowers are best used when fresh or dried and traditionally made into teas, syrups, powders, and lotions.
Chives
10-14 days
You can wrap them loosely in plastic wrap and store them in the crisper drawer. Alternatively, you can also wrap them in a damp paper towel and store them in a plastic bag or airtight container. Use refrigerated chives within ten to fourteen days.
Cilantro
7-10 days
Simply wrap the unwashed cilantro bunch in a clean paper towel and place in a plastic storage bag. The cilantro will keep for up to 1 week.
Dill
3-5 days
To successfully store fresh dill, spritz whole stems lightly with a fine spray of water, wrap loosely in paper towels, and place in a sealed zip-top plastic bag. Store the dill in the vegetable bin of your refrigerator. It should last up to a week and perhaps even longer.
Fennel
3 to 12 days
The vegetable drawer of your fridge is an excellent place to keep it fresh. Although you can store it wrapped in a brown paper bag on the counter for 2-3 days, you can also extend its shelf life up to 7-12 days total by covering it with a moistened kitchen towel, and keeping it in the fridge.
Lemon Balm
3 to 5 days
To store your lemon or lime balm, keep the leaves and stems in big pieces to retain as much flavor as possible. Store your herbs in paper bags or glass jars (avoid plastic bags as they may lead to condensation). Only when you're ready to use your herbs should you crumble them up to release their essence.Jun
Lovage
5 to 7 days
Lovage can be used fresh or stored frozen in sealed bags or dried. To dry lovage, tie cuttings in small bunches and hang them upside down in a dark, well aerated room. Store dried herbs in a sealed glass jar in a cool, dark area. Use dried lovage within a year.
Marjoram
5 to 7 days
Store fresh marjoram in the refrigerator: First wrap it in a damp paper towel or tea towel, and then loosely wrap that bundle in plastic wrap or tuck it inside of an airtight container.
